Fun in the Sun

It all started with a simple text message to my kids - Dad is retiring early and I wanted to plan something fun! So began months of secret text messages and researching the perfect spot to visit! The first choice of cruising was quickly dismissed with the news of another grandbaby on the way and the idea for a few days at Hard Rock slowly took shape.

Fun in the Sun at the Hard Rock Riviera Maya Resort was the theme of our family vacation. Celebrating my husband's early and well deserved retirement we planned a surprise few days at his favorite resort in Cancun.

The kids and grandkids met the unsuspecting hubby at LAX, where they waited to jump out at him by the boarding gate before heading out on their non stop flight to Cancun. Unable to join them on the trip as I was already in Cancun working, I set up all the arrangments and crossed my fingers for great weather and no glitches.

Arriving at Cancun International, they were greated by my favorite transportation company Lomas Travel! They were transported directly and safely to the Hard Rock in style. Once at the resort, they were checked in and the fun began. Exploring the resort and Dinner at Toro with dessert and coffee at Cafetto was on the agenda for Night one.

Arriving the next morning, I joined them for breakfast at The Market and then headed out to the pool area for some Fun in the Sun! The week's events included working on our tans and swimming in the gorgeous pools and beach area, pool activities where my 35 year old son reigned water soccer champion, water balloon fights in the pool, sand soccer and water volleyball games, running through the "sprinklers" in the kiddy area, snorkeling, canoeing and building sand castles were daily activities. And of course food - lots and lots of food - burgers, pizza and mountains of french fries from the pool side eateries, Float and Pizzeto and non stop drinks by a parade of waiters standing by. Other fun activities included Woodward where the 3 older grandkids and my son in law enjoyed a few hours of trampolines, rock climbing and concuring obstacle courses. A heck of a work out! The girls enjoyed a few hours of pampering in the beauty salon with absolutely amazing magical results and a couples massage was a big hit with my daughter and son in law at the one of a kind spa.

Evenings had the group enjoying, Toro on the Heaven side of the Resort, Teppanyaki at Zen and my hubby's absolute favorite restaurant - Ipanema, where we enjoyed way too much of the delicious Brazilian meats. Seafood night at The Market was amazing and a return to Toro for delicious steaks rounded out our dinner reservations for the week.

After dinner shows included acrobatic and dance show, magicians, music and dance lessons, singing along to Beatles music and my personal favorite, the Michael Jackson show where the staff performed some of MJ's all time hits.

Winding down each evening with a visit to Cafetto for ice cream, donuts, cookies and coffee became a must for each member of the group.

All too soon the week was over and we were standing in the lobby waiting for our Lomas driver and the trip back to the airport.

The priceless memories we created as a family at Hard Rock Riviera Maya will be held in our hearts and minds forever. The best gift I can give my family is creating Amazing Magical Adventures where we can spend time together and discover new and favorite destinations, learning about other countries' cultures, foods and walking around some of this beautiful earth's one of a kind sites.

This holiday season, my family can look forward to luggage and travel accessories and more Amazing Magical Adventures creating unforgettable memories!

Where will the magic take you?
